So... What Is BIAS X?

The wait is over. Positive Grid has created something entirely new for guitarists: BIAS X, the first AI-powered guitar tone platform. It's not a rework or an update. It's built from the ground up to help you shape your sound in real time, respond to your playing, and grow through real-world use. This is the next step in creative tone design.

BIAS X is different because it's designed to work the way musicians actually create. It listens. It reacts. It helps you get where you're trying to go sonically, without making you scroll through 600 presets or tweak gain staging for 45 minutes.

What do you want to sound like?

BIAS X lets you type that in. Literally.

You can say:

  • "Something fuzzy but smooth, like Queens of the Stone Age meets D'Angelo."
  • "Big, clean, glassy rhythm tone with a bit of bounce."
  • "That weird overdriven sound from the bridge of this one song I love."

Or just upload the song or guitar track. Let it hear what you mean. Then it builds a tone for you—amp, cab, effects, all of it. You can even tweak your tone by telling the AI exactly what you want, whether it be more gain, less reverb & more – you're in control. All the knobs you're used to are easy to access as well if that's what you prefer.

It's called Text-to-Tone and Music-to-Tone, and it kind of feels like magic. Except it's not. It's just...really smart.

Under the hood? A ton of real-world gear, modeled right

BIAS X isn't just AI guesses. It's built on a massive library of real amps and pedals. There are 33 amp models and 63 effects, pulled from actual gear and thousands of recordings.

Then there's this Agentic AI system that "listens" to how people actually use that gear. So the tone you get doesn't just sound good. It feels alive. Responsive. Human.

The cab sim feels real

Cab modeling has always been one of the trickiest parts to get right. BIAS X approaches it with 3D cabinet modeling that captures mic placement, speaker behavior, and room reflections—and it all responds dynamically as you play.

We even teamed up with Spectre Digital, an industry leader in professional IRs, to bring a library of sought-after cabinets right into BIAS X. And if you already have a favorite impulse response, you can load your own custom IRs directly into the platform.

The result? It sounds like you mic'd a real cab. In a real room. With gear you probably couldn't afford even if you wanted to.

Building rigs is drag and drop

No phase issues. No noise. Global noise gate keeps everything tight. Built-in doubler adds width when you want it. No confusing signal paths that you somehow broke by adding a stereo reverb.

You build. BIAS X figures out the routing behind the scenes. It's like having a tech who just quietly makes things work.

Creative prompts that push your sound forward

There's a feature where you can type in phrases like:

  • "Lonely robot funk."
  • "Vintage soul with a broken heart."
  • "Soundtrack for a VHS sci-fi movie."

BIAS X turns that into a playable tone. You might not use it every day, but when you're stuck or just want to try something wild, it's gold.

BIAS X learns

BIAS X evolves along with your preferences, playing and more while keeping everything from your presets to riffs completely private. Updates are coming constantly. The roadmap's open. It's not locked in a version number. It's a living platform.

This isn't about AI replacing musicians

This isn't about AI replacing musicians. It's about removing the boring stuff so you can get to the fun part. Playing. Creating. Messing around with sounds.

If you're curious, try it.

It won't talk down to you. It won't waste your time.

It'll just help you get where you're going. Faster.

That's what BIAS X is.
